Disneyland Adding Even More Vegan Menu Items

.

Disneyland Resorts hot on the heels of the Disney World menu announcement over the summer is adding many more options to their vegan plant based selection across the park in early 2020 next year.

The Culinary Director John State says this comes from guest feedback.

“We’re inspired by their feedback, going back into the kitchen, working on creating, innovating and introducing new flavors that just happen to be plant-based. Plant-based is what our guests are looking for,” State said.

There are many options available even before the launch and the chefs are looking to tell a story through the food with themes in line with the different sections of the park. From al pastor marinated cauliflower tacos at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante to the bulgogi style vegan sausage in the Ronto less garded wrap at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge there will be a ton of new choices to suit all taste buds.

“It really ties into where the land is and what the characters are,” State said.

The potato flats at the Lamplight Lounge is State’s favorite dish in the park

“This is actually a hidden gem. It’s probably becoming the most popular dish on the menu, crispy corn tortillas, filled with soft potatoes, topped with a plant-based chorizo, slightly spicy, serrano chili tomatillo salsa and then topped with a fragrant fresno-chile, escobiche-style salad with arugula.”

Many tourists visiting were happy to hear Disney being so progressive including John South who describes himself as “90% vegetarian” who has had trouble staying plant based while traveling.

“I’m ready to try some,” South said.

A newly minted certified dietician visitor Kat Walker said:

“The plant-based approach is kind of getting bigger in America which I think is great because it is a healthier option for our bodies. It has shown a lot more benefits like disease prevention and overall health. I think it’s great that Disney is on board.”

Australian Skye McGuffie who is vegan and visiting the theme park with her vegan friends was elated to see the progress.

“Super, super excited. There’s quite a few Instagram accounts out there that follow around the specialized vegan options at Disney Resorts, so it sort of made life a lot easier now, especially because they’re using a symbol on the menu and things like that.”

All vegan items on the menu just (as on the menu at Walt Disney World) will be clearly labeled with a leaf symbol next to them from the new menus launch in early 2020.
